Our Story / Meet The Growers

Our story our farm

The Hannaford olive grove is located on Wolgarup farm adjacent to the historic village of Taralga on the New South Wales Southern Tablelands. Taralga village is regionally known as The Village of Stone – where the stone for the historic village buildings was extracted from Wolgarup farm.

The Hannaford Family has been connected with Taralga for over 100 years; Wolgarup Farm has been in the family for over 50 years. Establishment of the olive grove commenced in 1998.

Meet the growers

Hannaford Olive Oil is owned by David and John Hannaford.

David was an accountant who became General Manager of the Tresillian Family Care group of Mothers and Babies Hospitals.

John was a lawyer who became a Member of Parliament and Attorney-General for New South Wales.

The Hannaford Olive grove was the first large olive grove to be planted in the Southern Tablelands region. The establishment of the olive grove was part of a plan to establish a new business in the region.

Today, there are a number of National and International award winning olive groves in the Southern Tablelands region that are producing very high quality extra virgin olive oil.
