Our Process
The soil and growing conditions contribute to the outstanding flavour of Hannaford Olive Oil.
The olive grove is planted in red basalt soil within a significant volcanic basalt rock region.
The farm is located at an elevation of 900 metres making the olive grove one of the largest high altitude olive groves in the country.
The elevation means that the growing period is short and the ripening period for the fruit is slow.
The olives are picked in late May of each year using hand held vibrating picking tools. The olives are then quickly cold processed in a centrifuge extraction plant.
